MIAMI (CBS4) – A man suspected of opening fire on a couple in a car on a Brownsville street has turned himself in.

Emin Rosales, 32, is now in police custody.

The alleged victims were driving a red Toyota Corolla northbound on NW 23 Avenue near 52 Street when a man driving southbound in a red pickup truck cut them off, according to detectives.

Words were exchanged and shots were fired, Miami-Dade Police Det. Alvaro Zabaleta said Saturday night.

Zabaleta said Oscar Padilla, 62, and his wife Maritza Colidres, 51, were shot multiple times. They were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital and admitted for surgery. Their conditions are not known at this time.

“Myself, my client, his family, and anyone involved with this, feels for the family of the victims, regardless of why this happened,” said Rosales’ attorney Ed Martinez.

Just minutes before turning himself in, Rosales stood by his attorney. Rosales didn’t want to talk, but Martinez did.

“His side of the story will come out,” Martinez told CBS4’s Gio Benitez. “Without going into what happened that night, I can tell you there’s a history here where that family has threatened my client’s life and chased him, and he’s always felt like he’s been threatened.”

Why is Rosales turning himself in?

“He is not afraid of anything. he’s not running. He feels that he hasn’t done anything wrong,” said Martinez.
